The route

The route is well laid out and signposted ‘Voie Bleue’ all the way along from Fleurville to Mâcon. Virtually the whole of this stage is along a tarmacked towpath beside the Saône (except where you have to cycle around Mâcon’s river port). In addition, at the level of Montbellet, there’s a stretch of 1.4km along a firm track as you pass by an area of collection wells for drinking water.
