Enter this great glass vessel, installed on the island of the Moselle, and contemplate the works that inhabit it: dream of the Gallo-Roman pantheon populated by hybrid creatures, look at the classical landscapes to guess the moment when the painter seized the light, and be disturbed by the contemporary productions.

To mark the 25th anniversary of its renovation, the Musée départemental is offering a new permanent tour of its Fine Arts collections. This large-scale operation profoundly changes the visit. It allows the visitor to admire nearly 200 works, in a pathway leading from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century, over nearly 860 m², i.e. almost double the surface area since the museum reopened in 1992. This new presentation shows the immense wealth of the Fine Arts collections, whether paintings, sculptures or art objects. Works by major artists such as Rembrandt, de La Tour, van Goyen, Pannini, Claude Gellée, Furini, Vlaminck, etc. are included. Finally, more than 110 works are to be discovered, after several decades in storage and major restorations. They promise to be a great surprise for visitors, even those who are used to the place
The mediation has been renewed for the occasion, allowing everyone to appropriate the works through different devices
Guided tours led by mediators are available for groups upon reservation. Audioguides are also available (French, English, German) to accompany visitors as they discover the museum.
